Just behind the chrome engine cover with the oil check window there is a smaller chrome cover held on by 3 allen head screws. Remove it to access the oil fill cap.
Make sure you check the engine oil level in the window with the bike held level, not resting on the side stand. The lower line indicates exactly one quart low. Don't overfill.
I love that 1500 LC- the red and white was my favorite color scheme ever, but they only made it for one year.
