A mate of mine uses a piece of that black, thin rubber material that you use to put under floor mats and rugs to stop them slipping around. He cut out a piece the same size and shape as the tankbag, laid it on the tank, and then puts the bag on top. You can hardly see it when the tank bag is on the bike. It sticks like sh*t to the tank, but peels off when you are not using it. Doesn't effect the magnets on the bag doing their job. You can get it at Bunnings or Clark Rubber. For around town I gave up on tankbags due to tank scratching, and instead use a Venturer expandable seat bag strapped to the pillion seat. Same size roughly as a medium tank bag. I can use it for touring also as I rely on saddle bags and a rear rack for my gear, leaving the pillion seat free for the seat bag. But I don't do camping trips much anymore. No electric blanket in a tent!!!!
