Default M Off the Chain

Well as most of you know I have done some performance mods. Cobra Speedster Slashdowns, Thunder Round Air Kit, and a Techlusion TFI controller. Tomorrow I take her to the dealer and they are going to do a performance dyno on her. I had a chance this weekend to go out into the country to see how well she runs and here are some initial impressions.

First off red line comes quickly. I have to pay much closer attention to the rpms when I get on the gas. Acceleration is quite impressive, I haven't done any standing take offs yet just rolling starts. When I hit second the front wheel does leave the pavement, on the shift to third the front end is very light and may be leaving the ground. I haven't done anymore than third while accelerating hard. If I accelerate hard coming out of a tight turn it will break the rear tire loose. I have lost some of my rpms at 3,000rpm I used to be doing 70mph, not when I'm doing 70mph I am at 3,300rpms.

The bike is loud but I have ordered V&H quiet baffles to tone her down. The throttle bodies are also much noisier than before but only under hard acceleration. At idle she sounds just like a Harley (potato, potato, potato) and no I’m not amused.

Fuel mileage is improved I am averaging 44mpg now.

There is a lot more vibration then there used to be. At 2,000rpms you can get quite a massage. And there is also a lot of vibration during acceleration. While driving at speed it isn’t as noticeable.

I am using setting that Dolbeck performance gave me for the FI controller so they should be close to peak performance. I believe the dyno will just be fine tuning and I don’t expect to see a drastic improvement in performance, just a lessening of popping and backfires. I will post the results as soon as I can.
