I wouldn't mind seeing a DOT standard for street motorcycle gloves, jackets and pants. No matter what kind of DOT helmet you buy, you know it's tough enough to be helpful in a wreck. Buying a jacket, you are pretty much guessing. Maybe your jacket has awesome leather, but will the seams stay together? All you can do is stick with name brands and try to judge for yourself - but I haven't destroyed any jackets in testing so what do I really know?
