I registered just to add this point that I didn't see in the thread.
Unfortunately people consider styling of a bike to be more important than buying one that fits their riding abilities (or inabilities). With all the videos on the internet of people doing over 100mph, big wheelies, and stoppies, etc., many potential buyers are fooled into thinking you can hop on and ride like some of the idiots in these videos. Not the case at all!
I'm also a fan of learning to crawl before you walk and I did it myself. I started with a '72 Honda CL100. I had to make it run before I learned to ride it. Then I stumbled upon another Honda (mid-80's, 500-ish) and rode it around for a bit. Now I am considering the same bikes as the original poster and I think I am going to go with the Suzuki.
First bike...start small. That's my 2 cents.
