'93 GSX600F needs tune-up So my friend bought a '93 Suzuki Katana GSX600F a few years ago. He forgot to get the title with it, but that's another story, and a battle I need to fight after I get it running properly.
He never tried to run it until a year after he bought it, so needless to say it didn't start. And it sat for two more years in pieces.
And then it was delivered to my garage for "storage". Another friend of mine (one of my competent friends) and I got it running - barely. At least now it runs on 1/4 choke. We also "adjusted" the fuel petcock so that fuel would flow to the engine, and played with a screw at the bottom of the carburetors. We both know cars pretty well, but motorcycles are kind of new to us.
So, the list of things that I need to do to the bike to get it running smoothly includes the following:
Change oil and oil filter
Change the spark plugs
Replace the battery (the old one leaked all over the bike)
I know I need to tune the carburetors, but how? I took them apart and the jets look good and everything is really clean. What does that screw at the bottom of the carburetors do that I adjusted (fuel mixture?, idle adjustment?) and what should it be set to (it has a K&N air filter on it if that matters)? Have I missed anything? Help would be appreciated. Thanks.
