A friend of mine is an OR nurse. She and her boss, the surgeon, have had a long-standing discussion about sports-accident victims.
My friend rides motorcycles (she usually rides together with her husband on his FJR1300), and her boss rides horses. IIRC, at last count, these two sports were equally represented in the trauma ward - they had an equal number of MC accident victims and riding accident victims.
My girlfriend had her leg broken by a horse, and I've had a toe broken when the horse stepped on my foot. And I've been thrown and landed on my tailbone several times - oooh, you feel that for days!
Until now *looks for some wood to knock on* I've been very lucky with my motorcycle. I've had a couple of small accidents, but nothing serious.
