Thumbs up I used my thumbnail

After considering the options and not king any of them, I thought that I would just try to peel up a bit of the label with my thumbnail, at the corner, in order to get a better idea what I was dealing with. So I did, and then I got some hot water and detergent and put a small amount on the label and let it site, keeping it wet. The top surface of the label got looser but I kept it wet and continued using a flat spot on my thumbnail, which at the right angle, was able to scrape away the label without one bit of damage to the painted finish.

I repeat, I did not have even the tiniest bit of scatching on the paint. Yes it took a while, but I just decided to take my time and be patient. I have screwed up similar things in the past....almost always from be impatient and looking for a quick solution. After I was done, I waxed/polished the gas tank with a high quality wax (which by the way contain organic elements in the wax) and it was 100% perfect.
