The reason I didn't mention my tank size is because NO ONE runs the tank down to 0.0 gallons! That's why I translated it into 'miles per gallon'.
4.7 gallon tank - 1.1 gallon [warning light] = 3.6 gallons. 150 miles until the warning light comes on, would be 150 / 3.6 = 41.7 mpg.
