I have had one for 15 years. Programming info should be on the web somewhere. You also need the special advancer that goes with it. I believe it is a bit different than the regular V&H 5-degree advancer. Can't remember. Regardless, you need an advancer of some type for the box to function correctly. You should also have a pipe and the carbs jetted at a minimum. Otherwise, you are wasting your money. The Powerpak really was designed for seriously built monster or racing motors. You can get basically the same performance on a stock motor using the stock CDI box, adding an advancer, pipe and jetting.

Although I have never had problems with my Powerpak, I have heard a lot of horror stories of these boxes causing problems due to weak circuit boards etc. You might want to try the Dyna Ignition. It is a bit pricey, but totally solid in performance from the racers I know.

If you get it, I have the dipswitch info around somewhere. I'd have to hunt it down though.
