I do that same as SuzukiGirl. If I'm the first and no one else is behind me, I'm ALWAYS in gear, ready to go. If I know the traffic light cycle and some cars are behind me and I got a long wait, I might go into neutral to relax the hands.
Not sure what I would 've done in that situation though.
