Bmw revealed today the C1-E Concept, a new scooter study based on the C1. According to the German manufacturer this is the future: a safe, environment-friendly and highly practical single track vehicle for city traffic. As you can see from the photos, the main idea of the concept is to provide protection for the rider and this is ensured by the safety cell with the conspicuous roll-over bar which dynamically spans the rider seat in combination with the energy-absorbing impact element at the nose end, but also by the seat-belt highlighted by red belts and belt buckles (due to the safety systems installed, this is “the only motorised single-track vehicle to be exempt from mandatory helmet wearing in almost all European countries” ). The concept features a stylish windscreen, luggage space behind the rider and side stand for parking making it the ideal vehicle for a crowded city. The scooter uses an electric motor based on components by the company Vectrix. This motor us powered by a lithium-ion battery but, according to Bmw, it can also be equipped with an efficient, low-emissions internal combustion engine.
