Maturity also comes with AGE. When we are young and have a life time ahead of us to live we seem to think invincible but like clint says "It means you ride for yourself, and the feelings you generate, rather than to impress anyone else". Unnnecessary SPEEDING KILLS!!!......ride safe and enjoy. :) Thanks Clinton

I recently bought a 125cc bike and decided to take it for a spin... un-liscensed and un-insured (BIG MISTAKE).

At first i was having a really great time and felt the power of a 125cc engine (It was quite rapid from standing, considering i had no idea how smooth i had to be with the clutch).

Although later on i took a corner a little too fast and smacked into a stationary vehicle... It was a good thing that i was wearing protective gear and the car had a slight scratch on its side... Although it still came to £400 that i paid for repairs and the car hire of the cars owner......

This had less to do with confidence and more to do with stupidity on my part and a desire to 'show off'..... I am going in for my CBT this tuesday and will give my motorcycling another try

Excellent post. I'm a newbie cycle rider. I took the state motorcycle safety course last year, before I ever hopped on a motorcycle, per the advice of a very experienced friend of mine. I tend to flip-flop between "new cycle nerves" and "wake-up call." I definitely do not consider myself a "mature rider," nor do I have "false confidence" (yet). Hopefully, reading this post will keep me out of the "false confidence" phase forever.

As the month of March moves on, I look forward to leisurely rides along curvey, black-top, lake-country roads this summer. For me, this is freedom. Happiness is a class three ball hitch and a trailer to tow my bike anywhere I go during the vacation season.
